Dear Prayer Partner,

Greetings in Jesus Name!

I hope this message finds you well. Thanks for your prayers , I had a good trip to Japan.

The Seventh International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (7th ICAAP), a major conference to facilitate international cooperation on prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS, will took place at the International Conference Center Kobe (ICCK) in Kobe, Japan from July 1 to 5.

Under the main theme “Bridging Science and Community,” the congress will work to foster a sense of solidarity in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Asia-Pacific region and encourage the Japanese government to increase its efforts in this field.

Participants were included HIV-positive individuals, NGOs, community representatives, policymakers and medical experts. They shared their knowledge of daily prevention, care and treatment and their experience in establishing community networks. This goes beyond the mere exchange of professional knowledge and expertise in the medical and academic fields and will enhance the region’s ability to cope with the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Asia and the Pacific. As of June 20, approximately 2,400 people, including journalists, from 45 countries, had registered to attend the congress, which is gaining
considerable attention as Japan’s first congress on HIV/AIDS in Asia and the Pacific.

Infections have gradually increased in Japan, rising to 1,165 reported cases in 2004, the first time the number exceeded 1,000. It can be stated that the epidemic is on the rise in Japan and can no longer be ignored. It is highly significant for Japan to host the 7th
ICAAP as the first-hand experiences of developing countries in their fight against HIV/AIDS will help the country to formulate better HIV/AIDS countermeasures.

Impact of HIV/AIDS on children could be minimised if parents remain free of HIV Kobe, Japan – Without immediate and extraordinary action on AIDS, the Asia Pacific region will see 12 million new HIV infections in the next five years. If urgent measures are adopted, that number can be cut in half.

While much attention has been devoted in recent years to scaling-up treatment for those already living with HIV/AIDS, the delegates at the 7th ICAAP congress reiterated the need to focus our efforts as well on preventing further infections from happening in the first place.

During ICAAP, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Family Health International (FHI) and Save the Children UK also highlighted the impact that a future runaway Asian epidemic would have on the children of the region.

They said that more than 1.5 million children in Asia and the Pacific are already orphaned by AIDS, according to new regional data, making protection, care and support efforts for children more urgent than ever.

While the number of children orphaned by AIDS is alarming, they represent only a segment of those affected by HIV/AIDS. Many more children in Asia and the Pacificare thought to be living with sick and dying parents or relatives and are at risk of losing their caregivers.

In addition to those orphaned by AIDS, another 121,000 children were estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS in Asia and the Pacific by the end of 2004, with an estimated 47,000 children newly infected last year alone.

One of the assured ways to protect children from each of these fates is to reduce the number of new HIV infections among adults.

“This is an urgent wake up call for action,” said Anupama Rao Singh, Regional Director of UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific Regional Office. “We not only have to do much more to protect and care for these children, but also step up primary prevention efforts to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS.”

My presentation at the Conference was about the situation of people living with HIV/AIDS in Burundi as you read in the attached file, we also have 200,000 are orphans due to HIV/AIDS. It time to everyone to stand up and fight HIV/AIDS by all means.

I am glad that you you prayed for me and that I was able to attend this conference, through this conference I know our people in Burundi especially children will get some support for their health.

May the Lord bless you as you continue to remember us in your prayers. May the Lord bless you.

Bujumbura, Nov 5, 2004

Dear Prayer Partner,

Greetings in Jesus Name!

I hope this note finds you well. I am pleased to inform you that I have come now from Gihinga Refugee camp in Mwaro Province to visit children. I have had a good trip but the road is very bad and the camp has been put about 70 Km from Bujumbura and 90 km from DRC. There are no many public transportation there, I went there yesterday and I had to stay in a hotel because of lack of a car to return to Bujumbura.

This new refugee camp is located at 5 km from Mwaro Province, it has been established there after the massacre that took place in Gatumba Refugee camp on 13 August 2004. Please allow me to remind you that 107 children died in that attack and 44 children wounded are still in hospital for medical treatment. The place where the new refugee camp is, there is no any car to go there, we tool a bike to get to the camp. Gihinga refugee camp has more children than Gatumba camp. I found them in critical situation, they are in a great need of physical needs especially food, clothing, shose, coats, educational materials and so on.

CCD Burundi will continue to help these children spiritually and physically. After this visit I would like to mention the urgent thing that we need in order to be able to help children in that camp. We really need a vehicle 4WD to help us in this work. Please pray that we may get a vehicle and and a new computer with its accesssories.

Please continue to pray for the funds that we need to pay for a new house where we will have our office and home for my family because my family still live in a hotel.

My God bless you. Thanks.

Dear Prayer Partner,

Greetings in Jesus Name!

As shared with you in recently, I am pleased to let you know that I am family are going to Kigoma -Tanzania on Tuesday October 19, 2004 to visit childen for a short time in refugee camps. We still keep our POSTAL ADDRESS in Burundi. Last year in September I was in Tanzania, please open here to get more inform on my trip at that time http://ccdburundi.org.uk/archives/burundi/visit_to_kigoma_tanzania.html

Christian Community Development Burundi is working together with Bishop Obadiah of World Gospel Ministry in Kigoma -Tanzania to spread the Gospel in Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi and elsewhere. Beside the message of salvation, we also need support to assist the needy people materially, such as food, clothing and so on. Rev.Obadiah tried to help me to find ways to visit children in Burundi Refugee camp but it was impossible to do it because I didn’t have funds and enough time to do it in September last year. There are 6 Burundi refugee camps in Tanzania and each camp is localed at a very long distance. In order to reach all children, we need need to hire a 4WD to do a long distance journey in bad roads. We are praying that God may help us to get funds and be able do this visit now. Please join us in prayers.

Praise the Lord for the visas that we have beed granted by the Embassy of Tanzania to go there. When get in Tanzania, we will need permission to visit children, please pray for us to get permission from the Gourvement of Tanzania that we need to be able to visit Children in refugee camps.

Please pray with us for this trip, we need you to stand with us in prayers as we travel by faith trusting God to provide to our needs as we serve God there in East Africa. When God leads you to send us any finacial help, please send it by Western Union.

May God bless you all.

Dear Prayer Partner,

Greetings in the Precious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanks for your prayers and support for the needy children in Gatumba refugee camp A & B. Because of the recent attack by the rebels, Gatumba refugee camp was closed in September, and 366 families of Banyamurenge returned home voluntary in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). When they arrived in DRC, local people didn’t receive them very well, instead they were stoned and 6 people were injured and 2 of them were children who were serious injured and now admitted to hospital for medical treatment. Another group joined other refugee in Ngagara refugee camp and others have been taken by UNHCR to another camp upcountry.

Among the refugee who went to DRC, 118 were children below 12 years, many more children are still in Burundi with their families and relatives in different new camps.

Please allow me to remind you that 44 injured children in the last attack, are still in hospital for medical treatment. Please remember them in your prayers.

All people who are in refugee B have been moved to a new camp located in Rukaramu Bujumbura Rural.

As our mission in CCD Burundi, we will continue to assist children as we used to do in the past years, we plan to continue feeding these children spiritually and physically. Please allow me to let you know that in order to do this work effectively, we are in a great need of a vehicle 4 WD that will enable us to reach the camps located upcountry. Please pray with us that God may open the door to get this vehicle.

We also need to move our office to another house, please pray that God provides the needed money ($900 USD) for 2 months deposit and 1 month of the rent. At this time, we only still have 16 days to have the office moved. Please pray for us so that this need be answered now.

Please pray for my trip to Tanzania where I will go to visit children in Burundian refugee camps. May God bless you as you continue to serve Him faithfully.

Matthew 25:31-46 “I was hungry and you fed me”

It was at 10:00 PM on Friday 13, 04 night while the Burundi Refugee families were sleeping, they were awakened to the sounds of gunshots. They saw people coming toward the camp from the direction of the DR Congo. At first, they thought they were robbers who had come to steal their cows. They heard them shouting “Exterminate them!” They weren’t robbers, they were the militia they had fled before. They could do nothing. The militia began to shoot everyone, including the women, children and elderly. Some of the children killed and wounded were our needy children. Their shelters were burned and most of their bodies were burned beyond recognition. Even babies were killed. Some of the refugees were beheaded.

Many children are in critical condition. Some are safe but without food and clothing. All of them are traumatized. While the militia was killing, some were chanting “Hallelujah” and beating drums. They were shouting “You escaped us before but this time we’ve got you.”
On behalf of the children who have been victimized, CCD BURUNDI is asking you for prayer and also for support. If you are in a position to send financial support and/or clothing and food to Burundi, please do so. May God bless you as you feed the needy and hungry children.

Yours in Christ,

Dear Prayer Partner,

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
I am so glad to inform you that God did a miracle for us here in CCD Burundi to receive first blessed guests from Germany Benjamin and Katrin. It is really a miracle for us to see them arrive safely, we prayed for them and God answered our prayers. We thank God because they have come to support CCD Burundi in many ways.

Last Saturday we were together at refugee camp to evangelise Children. All children were so happy to welcome them at the camp. The message of salvation was given to children, praise the Lord for 45 of the children received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. At the end, children were given biscuits and sweets that our guests provided for them as a sign of love for the children.

It is amazing to see how God answers prayers of the chidren at camp, children prayed for biscuits and sweets one week before the guests arrive in Burundi, so when children saw the gifts from the visitors, they thanked God for answering their prayers. It was a blessing to be together with our guests at the camp.

Praise the Lord God has opened a door for the guests to start evangelising here in Bujumbura Burundi, on Sunday 14, they evangelised in Lutheran Church and I was able to translate from English into Kirundi our mother tongue. There is a list of different churches where they will be going to serve God for this period of 3 months. They will also run seminars at the CCD Burundi office and to some churches.

They are praying for CCD Burundi and looking for possible ways to support our ministry especially to buy a computer and have internet at out office, this will reduce the costs of using internet at the internet cafe. They have helped us to install new telephone at our office that will work with the computer to have internet, our new telephone number is 257-249220. Praise the LORD, He has used them to provide help to pay for the rent of office for the month for November 2003 and to meet living expenses.

CCD Burundi has many needs that together with the guests, are praying for and we would like to share with you today so that you will be able to lift them before God in your daily prayer :

1. Please pray for a Mobile Clinic, it will help poor and needy people and children to have medical treatment. Most the people who will be treated live in the areas where war destroyed dispensaries or heath centers and the people don’t have any means to pay for the medical treatments. So this Mobile Clinic will be helpful to these people. To be able to start this project we need finances, medical equipents, vehicle ( a Land Cuiser), $ 25, 000.00 USD is needed for this project.

2. Please pray for peace to be restored in Burundi, when we have peace we will be able to assist poor and needy people of Burundi and helping children at refugee camp.

3. Please pray for the funds needed to meet administration expenses, children’s needs at refugee camp, to pay the rent of office for 6 months.

4. Pray for Chritmas Party that we plan to have for children at the camp on Dec 27, 03.

5. Please pray for CCD Burundi registration which is still in process, pray that God will help us to get our registration soon.

6. Please pray for 100 plastic chairs that needed for children Good News Club and training classes at our office.

7. Pray for a vehicle, we still need a car to use with our guests.

I am so glad that you will be able to join us in praying for these prayer requests written above. We trust that our God will respond posotively. He is faithful to us and he will do it according to His will. The folowing are the praises from what God has done for us during these days.

1. Praise the Lord for our guests who arrives safely in Burundi and they have started serving God with us.

2. Praise the Lord for the new telephone that has been installed at our CCD Burundi office.

3. Praise the Lord for the rent of office for Nov.03 that has been paid.

Finally, it is really good to serve God, this brings blessing to us and to those who serve Him faithfully. May God bless you all as you pray for us and continue to serve Him where you are.

Yours in the serve of the Master,
